Secrets To Eating Healthy For You and Your Kids

I just finished watching Oprah ( a repeat, but still interesting) where she had on Jerry Springfield's wife, Jessica Seinfeld, who has written a cookbook called Deceptively Delicious. In case you have missed hearing about this book the first time around, it is a cookbook full of recipes that use veggie purees that are healthy and that kids will love. Like brownies made with carrot and spinach purees. They looked delicious on TV, and Oprah and the audience seemed to love them, and the best part is that the carrots and spinach is undetectable. So kids are eating healthy without realizing it!

I have to admit that I am not the best example when it comes to eating healthy, and making sure my kids get their daily servings of veggies and fruits. But after watching Jessica Seinfeld today, I feel inspired to get my family eating healthier. I have been thinking about trying to get more organized in the meal planning, and trying to cook meals at home much more.

To convince me even more, Dr. Oz came on and talked about how kids today are eating so poorly that they will be having heart disease and more by the time they are in their 20's and 30's. After listning to Dr. Oz talk, I really felt like the poster mom for bad eating habits. Ugh.

So I am going to change things around here asap. I will update on our healthier eating changes soon, and hopefully it will be a good report! Wish me luck!
