Holiday Gift Guide: Cars Toon: Mater's Tall Tales :Wii Game Review

My munchkin boys love playing Wii games, ad they love everything Cars---from the movies to the books! So when I told them we would be getting the new Wii  Game, Cars Toon: Mater's Tall Tales, they eagerly awaited the delivery!

When it arrived, it took about two seconds for the game to be out of the package and in the game system. But then things slowed down considerably while we all attempted to figure out how to get started with the game itself. It was confusing and not that user-friendly in the beginning. However, that being said, this has turned out to be one of the most fun games the boys have played since getting the Wii last year.

Cars Toon: Mater's Tall Tales is part of the Mania! video game franchise, featuring fast-paced, multiplayer, family fun. The game makes a great family night activity as up to 4 players can play and compete. It is fast paced and fun, but I definitely feel my six year old grasped the concepts of the game far easier than my 4 year old, however he is so in love with Mater (even has a treasured Mater chair in his bedroom!) that he loves to 'play along' with this game every chance he gets.

Mater and the rest of the "Cars' gang, including Lightening McQueen of course, are basically reliving Mater's 'Tall Tales' and having a ball doing so. I love watching my six year old playing and his little brother laughing so hard at the hilarious events and scenes happening on the screen. I am also impressed with the lessons my older son especially is getting from this game -- learning to be cooperative, politely competitive (tough for a six year old boy!) and even learning how to let your imagination run wild.

Definitely a fun gift for the holiday season and for long after the holidays are over (think summer fun for the long days of summer...cause you know they will be here in a blink of an eye!)

Dermagist Skin Products

Dermajuv_skin_care_products

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Dermajuv Skin Care Products. All opinions are 100% mine.

Dermagist is a skin care product line that contains ingredients aimed at improving skin, fighting wrinkles, sagging and other effects of aging. I found the information on the website interesting, and I am hopeful that maybe at last I have come across some skin care products that will really do what they say--help my skin look it's best even though I am far from being a 'spring chicken' anymore.

One of the ingredients, Matrixyl, has been shown to significantly reduce deep and moderate wrinkles. That would be awesome, as I am noticing more wrinkles trying to make their claim on my face everyday (at least it feels that way every time I look in the mirror!) There is also an ingredient, Renovage, that fights the effects of aging at the cellular level--woot! Now this has definitely caught my attention. Renovage helps maintain the lifespan of cells and increases cell function which helps keep skin younger longer. Sounds good to me.

As I read more about Dermagist, the more I am encouraged. I am tired of trying the latest new skin care products at the drug store...and I really want to protect my skin as I , ahem, age.

If you's like to learn more, check out their website. Have you already tried Dermagist products? If so, please let me know!!

Holiday Gift Guide: Road Rippers R/C Cars Collection

If you have boys, chances are you have RC Cars around your house. But like every little boy (and big ones too!) know, you can never have enough R/C cars! And just in time for the holidays, Road Rippers R/C Collection from Toy State has some super cool new toys especially for boys of all ages!
We received Road Ripper's 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge. My six year old and four year old boys went nuts when they opened up this bad boy, LOL. (Like I said, a boy can never have too many RC cars, hehe).

These cars feature flashing lights and even car tunes from the 70's (ours plays Louie Louie!). Each car plays a classic tune from that particular car's original era. Other cars in this line include 1967 Corvette Stingray, 1969 Dodge Daytona and 1971 Dodge Super Bee.

As far as batteries go, yes, you will need to have plenty on hand, especially if this will be a Christmas toy under the tree! You may want to get rechargeable batteries--a great way to save money in the long run and keep the fun going!

The control has several functions, and is easily handled and controlled... my 4 year old had zero problems working it.

The Road Rippers R/C Motor Muscle collection is available at Wal-Mart, Target, Toys “R” Us, and K-Mart stores nationwide. It may be available at other local stores in your area. They have an approximate. Retail Price of $35.00.

Want to know more about Toy State and their cool toys? Connect with them on Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.

Disclosure: We received a complimentary Road Rippers RC Car to review from Team Mom. No monetary compensation was received. All opinions expressed here are mine and my munchkin boys!

Filtrete Water Pitcher Blog Tour

I was recently given the opportunity to review the new Filtrete Water Pitcher from 3M. To say I was incredibly excited would be an understatement, because I admittedly am one of those shoppers that does buy water bottles at the store...over and over again. Yes, I know they are a waste of money. Yes, I certainly feel guilty knowing that those plastic little bottles are bad for the environment. But still, I would buy them as I simply could not stand the taste of our sink water.

The Filtrete Water Pitcher has  changed how we drink water in our household, and best of all, has made us all start to drink much more water....even our kids!

The pitcher is fun all by itself (I love new kitchen things.... I am like a kid getting a new toy when some new clean pretty kitchen gadget comes along!) It is sleek but holds more filtered water and takes up less space in my refrigerator than a bunch of water bottles. I really am impressed with the pitcher itself!

But of course, the very best part is the awesome filter. It is simple to use. You just hold the filter under water for a couple of minutes to rinse a gallon of water through it. Then you activate the filter by pushing down the 'button' in the middle of the filter. Then you watch as the pitcher fills up with clean filtered water--btw, it filters water 5 times faster than traditional pitcher filters. Then you pour yourself glass of clean fresh filtered water and enjoy!

I love the water pitcher...and completely recommend it to anyone still buying water bottles at the store. I am tickled when I walk past the water bottle aisle and realize I am saving some money (and being green at the same time!!)

Filtrete also has set up a cool website, Clear Advantages, with tips and ideas and such for parents. You can register there to receive seasonal e-newsletters featuring money-saving offers, filter change reminders, better home living tips and more. You can also follow Filtrete Water Filtration Products on Twitter and their brand on Facebook.

Happy filtering!
