Review and Giveaway: Raisels!

What is a 'raisel?' you say?

I did not know either, (so don't feel bad) until I had the opportunity to review this new healthier snack alternative for kids (and maybe adults too...just saying.)

They are the latest snack sensation from the National Raisin Company. They are the first 100% real fruit that really tastes like candy (I know this, because of course I had to eat some. You know, for this review and all.)

Raisels are the 'New Candy!' for kids. A much better healthy alternative that actually contain some very good things for the kiddos (shhh...)

What are in these Raisels, you ask?

These fruity flavored raisins contain antioxidants, are at free, cholesterol free and meet 100% of the US RDA for Vitamin C.

While they are not sugar-free, Raisels have 5x less added sugar than sweetened dried cranberries, 19x less sugar than a package of Skittles, and 17x less sugar than a 12 ounce can of soda, to give some perspective. Plus, 90% of the sugar in Raisels is naturally occurring (raisins, the number one ingredient in raisels, contain about 21 grams of sugar per 35 gram serving.)

What is NOT in these fruit snacks is sodium, high fructose corn syrup, nor artificial sweeteners.

And Raisels are Kosher Certified by the Orthodox Union.

So when we received our boxpackage with different flavored Raisels to try out, I will admit my kiddos were a bit dubious. New packaging, unknown 'treat' that mom was actually saying 'go ahead and eat some.' Yea, their radar was up.

But when my six year old ate some, his face was enough to make my 4 year old demand to have a box. They loved the sour taste, especially my six year old, who can never seem to have anything too sour--he is the king of all things sour.

The hubbs, my 13 year old and I then tried some. They were too sour for the old man, a bit too sour-y for my 13 year old, and I admit, took a bit of time for me to get past the blast of sour flavor that these little raisels contain.

But the boys could not get enough of them. I used them as a lunch box snack for my six year old, and the kids in his class were so impressed with them that he asked me if he could bring extra to share with his friends. Our  box of samples quickly disappeared.

Raisels come in four sour-filled flavors: Sour Apple, Sour Orange, Sour Peach and Sour Lemon.) They can be found in the dried fruit sections at the grocery store in six packs of 1.25 oz portion-controlled boxes.
