Review: Mega Bloks Domino Build Game

My kids recently played with a new board game, Mega Bloks Domino Build. Both of my boys loved this game, I mean they really truly loved it, though for different reasons. Did you think there was a touch of surprise in my voice there? You would have thought right.

I fully expected my 4-year-old to enjoy the game, but  I also expected my 6-year-old to be quite a bit less enthusiastic about the game.


Actually, it turned out to be just the opposite.


My first grader wanted to play Domino Build over and over again that first day, and still loves playing it whenever he gets the chance.

My four year old loves to play with the large building pieces but is not nearly as interested in playing the actual game.


Mega Bloks Domino Build is pretty easy for my six-year-old to play. Which is precisely why I thought he would be less interested in it. Turns out, this is precisely why he loves playing it! Which brings me to my other thought about this particular board game: it seems whoever goes first almost always wins. Thus, the smarty-pants big brother can always convince his little brother to go second. And you know how that game ends, right?


Domino Build helps both my kids have fun while working on their numbers, colors, and matching skills.

My first grader just laughs and smiles so much every time he plays it. I think he really feels confident playing it just because he so fully understands it. Plus, it never hurts to reinforce building patterns, numbers, and even good sportsmanship at any age!


 Domino Build Game includes:

• 11 zoo animals featured on dominos
• Includes: 16 maxi bloks, 30 domino tiles, and 1 instruction sheet
• 2-4 players

Final thoughts: I do absolutely believe that  for pre-schoolers and on up through six-year-olds, this is a fun game with educational aspects that is well worth the purchase ($10.99 @ Amazon)

Veggies and my kids do not mix well. Pretty much they avoid each other as much as possible. So being the conscientious and wonderful pearls-around-my-neck sort of mother that I am, (what? did I push it too hard??) I try to find kid-friendly recipes where I can sneak in a veggie or two and get the satisfaction of seeing my kiddos eat said food. I also resort to bribery. But that is a different story for a different post.

Dance can be a fun, easy way to introduce physical activity into your family's daily routine. As a provider of educational child care, Primrose has recognized and is actively fighting against the childhood obesity epidemic.
Your family can join in the fight- all you have to do is dance!

The Family Dance-off supports Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, a non-profit organization that raises funds for more than 170 children's hospitals, which collectively treat 17 million children annually for every illness and injury imaginable.

Families are encouraged to record and submit a 30-second video of them dancing to their favorite song to promote fitness and strengthen family ties.

Participating in the Family Dance-off is easy:

1.       Record a 30-second video of your family's best dance moves. Don't be afraid to really let your imagination take over!

2.       Visit The Family Dance-off site and upload your best dance by March 19th.

3.       Share your video with your friends via email, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

4.       View and vote daily (you can place five votes per day) for your favorite family dance video!

And now for the prizes, because what would a competition be without them? Primrose Schools is providing prizes that aren't only great for your family but for your whole community, with $65,000 in donations to local Children's Miracle Network Hospitals:

·         Grand Prize: $5,000 and Primrose will make a $30,000 donation to a local Children's Miracle Network Hospital
