Kids In The KItchen Tips

My kids, especially my 4 year old and my 1 1/2 year old, always seem to fight, get hurt, need my immediate attention or decide to go through drawers and cupboards every time I am in the kitchen. I can be there on the phone, doing dishes, or trying to cook a meal but no matter what, I am never in there alone!

I have tried various things to calm our kitchen madness, and have yet to find anything that really works for long. But even 5 or 10 minutes of peace, especially when I am on the phone, is better than none.

Today I came across an idea that I am so excited to try out. Simply hang a chalkboard on a wall or kitchen cabinet at kid's height. That's it! I think this will keep my kids entertained a while. Or at least I'm willing to give it a try! I am thinking that the rule will be the chalkboards (I plan on putting up two) can only be used when I am in the kitchen working, so the kids will not over use them and get bored quickly with them.

We'll see how it goes. I just have to make sure my youngest doesn't eat the chalk!
