Walmart Introducing Make-Up Line For 8 Year Old Girls: What the Heck??

My daughter is 13 going on 16, 18, 30. She is at that lovely age where she and her friends have the world figured out and have decided that we (us ancient parents) know absolutely nothing. They are smart enough to realize however that while we may be dinosaur-like in our way of thinking, we are still useful for things like money, driving and well, more driving. Oh yea, laundry and cooking too.

I find myself in a constant 'ping-pong' game with my daughter. I give in to this, and she will agree to that. We compromise more than we fight, so I guess I should count my blessings, and I do. But the one area I have held firm on is make-up. When she was little, she loved playing with the play make-up sets I would buy her, and she would happily set up beauty parlors and happily play for hours. When she got a little older, I let her play dress up with my clothes, and yes, some real make-up. At home. Now she is much older (oh, my heart) and she has been asking me to let her wear make-up to school.
