Nature's Source Review and Giveaway!

PhotobucketHooray for Green Cleaning! With little kids around, I really do not like using those smelly chemical cleaners. I prefer to use natural products for cleaning, but have found some work and some just do not get the job done.

Thanks to S.C. Johnson (Makers of Scrubbing Bubbles and Windex), and the Family Review Network, I was able to review SC Johnson's new Nature's Source Bathroom Cleaner. Now I have to admit I HATE cleaning our bathrooms (after all, we have two little boys!), but I know if I don't, no one else will.

My very first impression of Nature's Source was that I was delighted to not smell that nasty chemical odor so many cleaners always have.

The cleanser itself did an truly an amazing job with the "mess" that is our bathroom. I don't think there is a cleaner out there that can completely face the challenges of a four year old boy and his little two year old brother, seriously, but I give kudos to Nature's Source for a job well done! We have more yuck in there than I need share, hehe, but Nature's Source handled it all well. I actually did not mind cleaning the bathroom as much as I usually do.

I multi-task cleaners...a lot. And I did use the Nature's Source Bathroom Cleaner in other rooms, such as my kitchen. I mean, really, a counter is a counter no matter which room it's in, right? I used it in my kitchen sink, stove top and on the front of my dishwasher. I loved this stuff and kind of got in a cleaning mode, kwim? This may not occur all too often, but that's another story!

Nature's Source Bathroom Cleaner (as well as the whole line of cleansers) is more than 99 percent natural. They are packaged in recyclable bottles, partly produced by renewable energy from a local landfill, and recognized for safer chemistry by the Environmental Protection Agency's Design for the Environment (DfE) program. How is that for cleaning GREEN?? Plus, the Nature's Source products are $3.49 - $3.69 (MSRP)--so it will not leave a dent in my wallet when it's time to buy some more.

Good for the kids and family, and good for our environment. Gotta love that!

And I get to GIVEAWAY 1 bottle of Nature's Source Natural Glass & Surface Cleaner from SC JOHNSON-- How cool is that? Just in time for all that Spring Cleaning you've got planned, right?

Cleaning The House With Natural Products

Got some lemons laying around? Or Vinegar? How about Baking Soda? All three are great for cleaning around the house, and are safer and cheaper than the chemical cleaners at the market.

White vinegar is acidic and so will break down dirt and grime, and kill bacteria, mold and germs. But do not us vinegar on marble or other porous surfaces, it can cause damage. Also, be careful on grout-too strong a solution of vinegar can also damage the grout.

You can use vinegar in the laundry. Just use 1/2 cup to 1 cup of vinegar in the rinse cycle instead of commercial fabric softener. You can also pour the vinegar in a fabric softener ball they sell at stores, and just toss it in to get fluffy soft clothes.

Use vinegar in the dishwasher instead of expensive dish washing detergent. Pour about a 1/2 cup into the bottom of the dishwasher. This is especially good for getting glasses sparkling. Even if you decide to still use detergent, try using the vinegar as a rinse agent instead of the more expensive store bought products.

Use vinegar in the toilet bowl to help get rid of the rings. Pour about three cups into the bowl to break down the grime. Also, about once a week pour white vinegar into the back tank to help keep the toilet bowl clean. Vinegar is great at breaking down hard water stains and soap scum.

Use Lemons to make an all natural furniture polish. Just mix about one part lemon juice with two parts olive oil. The left over lemon peels are perfect to put in your plants to keep cats from deciding to use the potted soil as a cat litter box!

Use lemons in the kitchen to wash dishes. Just get a half lemon and sprinkle some baking soda on it and your dishes will sparkle. Put the lemon peel down the garbage disposal to get rid of odors.

Use Baking Soda mixed with water to make a paste to clean kitchen surfaces with.

Use Baking Soda to help clean your microwave by boiling two tablespoons of baking soda in a small bowl of water, and then just wipe away the softened unk.

Use baking soda and water paste to remove stains on clothing before washing.

Use baking soda to help clear bathroom drains. Pour about a cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by a cup of vinegar. It may take a few repeats, but clogs should be cleared up with this solution.
