Review and Giveaway-- KINeSYS Suncreen

Thanks to the Family Review Network and Kinesys, we were given the opportunity to test out The KINeSYS kids sunscreen products recently.

We happen to live in an area that gets little rain and cloudy days, but lots of sun ( a bit too much might I add?)and sunscreen is a must for my daughter each day as she heads off to school.

Not only do I worry about sunburns, but because she is exposed to the sun so much, I worry about long term effects on her skin. My boys I can control a bit more as far as sun exposure goes because they are home with me all day. But when we go to the park, shopping, walks and such, I do put on sunscreen on them, as well as myself---who needs more freckles??

It takes, on average 15 to 30 years for the damage to show up, so if your kids get sunburned at age 6, the damage won't be visible until they are 21 - 36 years of age. The damage shows up as wrinkles age spots or even cancer.

So I was happy to try out KINeSYS, and report on what I thought about their products. We received the 4 oz. Kids KINeSYS Spray-On Sunscreen, and the 1 oz. Girls KINeSYS Spray-On Sunscreen, in a very cute pink bottle. Both sunscreens are 30 SPF. I would not have minded a higher SPF though. The boys did their usual squirming when I told them it was time to put on their sunscreen as we were getting ready to go for a walk--but when I showed them the new orange spray bottle, they were cooperative and let me spray it on them. I have to say it was impressive how quickly it dried -- and their little arms and legs did not feel icky, sticky or slimy. I also used it and loved that it felt totally lightweight.Photobucket

My daughter used the Girls Sunscreen before leaving for school, and the Green Tea and Vanilla scent was awesome! Again it dried right away.

The Kineysis Kids Sunscreens are alcohol, oil, preservative, PABA and fragrance free. They are also colorant, nut, egg, paraben, gluten, nanoparticle, soya, sulphite and dairy-free. It protects against UVA and UVB rays when applied as directed, and they are water and sweat resistant.

My kids are happy with their new sunscreens, and mom is as well! Easy to put on my squirmers, delicious scent for my daughter, and protects their skin from sun damage-- all positives in my book!

SAVE NOW! -- on KINeSYS : 10% discount on your order --use Code BRC10 (free shipping on orders over $45 AFTER the discount)

WIN IT! One lucky winner will receive one 4 oz. Kids Sunscreen Spray and one 4 oz. Kids Moisturizer from KINeSYS!

Saturday Small Talk Six

Today’s topic on Mom Dot's Small Talk Six is “6 things other people do that make you personally uncomfortable.

hmm...

Smoking for sure--around me, but even more so if it's around my kids!

Standing too close--getting in my "personal" space---ugh!

Coughing without covering their mouths

Whistling

Chewing gum, especially if they are doing so loudly...yuck!

Asking me personal questions.... and sharing more personal info about themselves than I may have wanted to know

So what makes you uncomfortable? Visit momdot.com for more Small Talk Six fun!!

Aloha Fridays

"In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response."

TGIF, right? And in keeping with the laid back Friday feeling, An Island Life has a fun and easy Friday meme going on..... ponder some great, funny, interesting, serious--you name it--questions on everyone's blogs, and ask one of your own on your blog!

So here is my question:

If all things were as they should be in your life today, would you have another baby, or are you simply done, period?

So after you stop snorting, gasping for air, smiling, laughing, etc.. and leave me your answer , Pose your own question on your blog, and then head over to An Island Life, and sign Mr. Linky!

Review and Giveaway--Cart Stopper

The Cart Stopper is one of those ideas that truly makes you wonder "Why I didn't think of that??"

I do the shopping 9/10 in our home, and almost always have my 4 year old and 2 year old with me. I do not know the number of times I have arrived back at my car, grocery cart with groceries, a squirming two year old demanding to be taken out IMMEDIATELY, a precocious 4 year old who refuses to hold my hand in the parking lot and a car parked so close to mine that I am afraid of hitting it with my cart, an open door, or a mischievous little boy who "innocently" smacks it with a dinosaur. I become somewhat of a contortionist many times ....holding on to the cart with a foot, stretching one arm to open the door, carefully, for my 4 year old, and keeping one arm on my two year old who otherwise will be trying to climb out of the cart.

The Cart Stopper has been one of those simple ideas that has made unloading kids and groceries into my car while not letting the cart roll away stress free and relaxed.

A mom of two invented this incredible device after the worst parking lot nightmare for parents happened to her-- the shopping cart in which her little boy was sitting did actually get away from her--takes just a second-- and rolled away with her son, finally stopping when it hit a car!

What is the Cart Stopper? It is a device that has a suction cup on one end, which easily attaches to your car, while the other end of the device is hooked securely to the shopping cart. There is a "bungee" sort of cord which allows for some slack, but the cart stays secure and you have both hands free. Simple but ingenious in my book.

I could not wait to try the Cart Stopper out after it arrived, and went shopping asap (much to my hubby's 'delight', hehe). The cart stopper fit easily into my purse, which is a good thing since I normally do not carry a diaper bag anymore. Then, when it came time to try it out, I found it to be quick and simple to do. I attached the suction cup, secured the cart, and calmly dealt with my boys without worry of the cart getting away from me. No more hooking my feet on the cart to hold it still...no more contortionist moves as I tried to open doors and such.

The Cart Stopper was recently awarded “America’s Best New Invention” by ORCA – and was a finalist in the ‘JPMA Innovation Award’ contest at the recent ABC Kids Expo in Vegas.

You can buy a Cart-Stopper from their website for $9.99 each.

And thanks to Cart Stoppers and Family Review Network, I am giving away one free cart stopper to a lucky reader!!

LemonHead Hair Accessories Review and Giveaway

These are the adorable hair accessories that I received the other day from Lemon Head Kidz! We received the "Bandeez"-- a fully adjustable ( can fit babies as well as mommies!) non-slip headband, and the very cute silk flower clip.Photobucket

My daughter has very long, thick wavy hair and has a hard time keeping it under control. She is also very picky about what accessories she will wear in her hair because most of what we have tried is just too uncomfortable for her.

So I was very excited when these hair accessories from Lemon Head Kidz arrived, and right away had to tryout the cool headband. I loved it--- and might I say that I am always, ALWAYS, with a ponytail? No creative hairstyles for me...nope. And without a ponytail, I always feel bothered with hair in my face. And guess what? I can even put my hair into a pony tail with this headband just by tying the ends of the Bandeez together...so cool! Special velcro techniques keep the Bandeez in place and comfy.

My daughter is every bit delighted with the headband as well. I love seeing her hair actually under control and looking adorable with the Bandeez on. The biggest plus is that it is so lightweight and comfortable to wear, she enjoys wearing it without complaining or taking it off.

The hair clip is adorable as well, and is comfy and very snug. Neither my daughter and I are big on hair clips though, so it is not receiving as much attention as is the headband. But it does look very cute when it is worn with the headband or by itself. We both tried it out, and it absolutely stayed put...through dancing, jumping, playing and running!

Lemon HeadKidz was started by a mom who had a challenging time trying to keep clips in her daughter's hair...sounds familiar, right? Noeui Lalonde says her two year old daughter would find a way to take apart every hair clip, and the embellishments, that they put on her.

---- " We couldn't find a structurally sound clip that stayed in our daughter's fine hair, so after months of trial and error we finally came up with a clip she couldn't destroy and stayed put. Voilà, Clipeez were born!! And soon after, the Bandeez was created as well....

"She kept losing her headband because it slipped off. After losing so many headbands and having to readjust them all the time we decided to experiment on our own and came up with Bandeez. Our headbands are fully adjustable, they fit infants to moms on-the-go. They're designed to not slip or slide on heads of any size. Tweens & Teens love our headbands because we have so many different patterns and they can create their own styles
. "

Both the Bandeez and the hair clips come in a large variety of styles and patterns. They do not use magnets or hot glue, or anything squeezed out of a bottle like silicone or rubber. The premium patented GRIPSTRIP is made of a unique reliable material that is identical in every clip They are easy to wear, stay put, and feel great.

And one Happy Healthy Families Reader can WIN a cute Flower Clip and a Bandeez Hair Band of their own!

My Mother's Day Gift

Photobucket
I was given the opportunity to pick out an early Mother's Day gift just for moi from Joolwe, an awesome online jewelry store! And look what I picked!Photobucket I am so happy with my Diamond Accent Heart Necklace.... I wear it with everything, from jeans to dresses (yes..I still put a dress on occasionally!)
The necklace itself is very light and comfortable to wear... a big plus in my book. I also love the length of the chain because it is not so long that the pendant gets hidden in shirts, and not so short that it feels tight and bothersome. I have honestly gotten compliments every time I have worn my necklace.

Joolwe, is a wonderful jewelry store for mothers, especially with Mother's Day fast approaching. They offer a fantastic selection of truly affordable jewelry, from beautiful rings, necklaces, bracelet, earrings, and they even carry ELLE Magazine Jewelry (just like the magazine!).

There are always promotions and specials going on, and if you sign up to receive their newsletter, you will be entered in their in their bi-weekly jewelry giveaway! And you can always get the latest news and updates by visiting the Joolwe Jewelry Blog.

Thanks to Family Review Network for this review opportunity.

My Natural Bamboo Plush Toys

Is this cuddly elephant adorable or what?? He (or she?) comes from the makers of miYim Organic Toys. This adorable plush elephant is just one of several too cute toys in their new My Natural Bamboo Collection.

This 9” plush animal is extremely soft and silky to the touch...squeezable to the extreme, hehe, and the bamboo fabric itself has many amazing properties. Bamboo is one of the most sustainable materials in the world and absorbs more carbon dioxide and releases more oxygen than any other plant on earth.

It’s naturally antibacterial and reduces allergy levels, and because of the all-natural PureWaterWash™ coloring process, our newest little "family addition" is safe for kid nibbles and "kisses with a bite to them!" My kids all love their new elephant friend, but just as adorable are the yellow monkey, the blue panda, and the green frog!

The My Natural Bamboo Collection is available exclusively at Barnes and Noble and has a suggested retail price of $14.99.

Back!

Well, some may have noticed that Happy Healthy Families has been quiet the past week ....no new posts, etc. I am back today with the sad news that I lost a brother very suddenly and unexpectedly ...it has been a difficult sad time.
But I am getting back into my blogging mode, albeit slowly, and hopefully will be back into the swing of everything next week. I will be catching up on giveaways, reviews that have been back kind of put on the back burner, so I hope everyone will continue to check in!

Enjoy today...and give those you love an extra hug!

More Fun Kid's Music--Giveaway!!

I have another fun, educational and "get dancing" kind of CD to share and giveaway! The album, "Mister Felipe-- Cruzando El Border" brings wonderful bilingual music for kids to sing along with, dance to, and laugh with.

Mister Felipe is actually Philip Handmaker, a Spanish and Music teacher living in Taos, a town in northern New Mexico. Growing up in New Mexico, he heard a lot of Spanish on the playground, and he studied the language in high school and college. After getting a master's degree in Applied Linguistics and teaching bilingually in Arlington, Virginia for several years, he at last moved back to Nuevo México, where he is combining his lifelong passions of music, language, and teaching.

In his album, Handmaker combines English and Spanish, and my kids love it, which makes me very happy as I know that right now my munchkin boys are like sponges soaking up whatever educational resources that I can provide them. When they listen, sing and dance around as they are actually learning Spanish words, months, numbers and even the alphabet, it is awesome.

Mr. Felipe has a great website where not only can you hear the songs, read lyrics kids can learn about different instruments, print out fun coloring pages, and check out fun examples of Spanglish that visitors send in.

There are cute silly songs like the ¡Fuera, Perro... all about a very mischievous dog ( my 4 year old's favorite!), and Vamos Afuera which is about two friends, one who wants to play outside and another who's worried about getting dirty and prefers indoors. Muévete is a reggaeton song that gets kids dancing as they learn the parts of the body. Me Gustan los Animales is all about animals on a farm. And there are fun sing along songs that teach kids the months of the year, numbers and teh alphabet.

To Win a Signed Copy of Mister Felipe-- Cruzando El Border--

Visit Mr. Felipe's website, and leave me a comment lettng me know which song is your favorite!

Tie Buddies Review and Giveaway

I have avoided the "tying shoes" routine with my 4 year old by buying him shoes with the velcro straps, and slip on shoes. But I knew at some point I really needed to face the challenge of teaching him to tie his shoes. But I am pretty good at putting off the things I dread....kwim?

But thanks to Tie Buddies, I am so proud to announce that my little guy is now an accomplished shoe-lace tier, and it was easy, painless and fun!

Tie Buddies® is a mom-invented product by a mom that really wanted to give her daughter independence and build her confidence. Using the Tie Buddies eliminates all the confusing loops where laces need to pass through. Tie Buddies also uses a story method method based on characters shown on the Tie Buddies themselves.

Photobucket
My 4 year old got the very cool race car tie buddies, and we couldn't wait to get started trying them out. But first we actually had to go shopping and buy a pair of new shoes with laces--yep, he had none!

But it was worth the shopping trip. My little man is so happy and proud that he can now tie his shoes-- and I am delighted.
